Description

Palo Santo (meaning holy wood) originates traditionally in South America, especially in Peru and Ecuador, where centuries ago they used it during ceremonies to clear the aura and to heal from negative influences. It is naturally cleansing and is said to help attract positivity and good fortune.

Palo santo has a delicately sweet, fresh and woodsy aroma with hints of mint and citrus. In comparison with white sage (which is also used for the same purpose), palo santo gives off a very mild scent.

Tip: if you would like to enjoy the beautiful aroma of palo santo without the smoke or not necessarily for cleansing, you can place the wood in an incense burner where the oils will be activated by the heat of the flame and so release the aroma slowly. Also handy if you only have a small piece left too small to burn.

There are strict local laws that forbid the logging of palo santo and these sacred trees cannot be removed until they have rested on the forest floor for several years, then is it only permitted to be harvested long after dying a natural death. Palo santo must undergo a metamorphosis that starts with falling in its own due time and resting for years. It’s through the process of this natural death, followed by years on the forest floor that its essential oils and healing properties develop, giving the wood the power to purify, attract positive energy, heal and smell amazing.

All orders are supplied in plastic-free packaging.
